| An evening gossip newspaper in Mumbai reported on the insistence of the Bollywood Star Salman Khan's PRO that Daler upstaged Salman, Zayed and Shahid act in LA. This is how the story goes.. Daler and Team DM were in LA for a concert performance. As soon as the LA promoters of the 'Rock Stars Tour' found out, they left their show to fetch Daler from his Hotel, requested him to go to the Concert. Daler did not refuse as he was overwhelmed that someone should actually leave his concert to pick him up. On the way the Promoters disclosed the kind of losses the Tour had suffered ,even though the entire cream of Bollywood was a part of the tour. They discussed the last Daler Mehndi Tour of which they had milked huge chunks of money. When they reached the venue, Salman was performing on Daler's latest hit track "Rang De Basanti", the promoters pleaded and pushed Daler on to the Stage. The sudden roar in the crowd shocked salman who was busy dancing. Much to his disbelief and shock when he saw Daler on the stage, he ran backstage threatening to not do the closing act. A minute later Daler came off stage and told Salman that it wasn't his fault and that he didn't know what was happenning and that it wasn't a big deal. | Daler Mehndi is much in demand with the Film Frat, especially after the super duper success of Rang De Basanti both in India and Abroad. Amir Khan the protagonist of the MOST SUCCESSFUL AND MOTIVATIONAL FILM OF THE CENTURY comments on the song, " Something happens to me when I listen to that song." "Daler's voice, the words by Prasoon Joshi, music by AR Rahman is a lethal combination." , TP . The Yash Chopra camp was quick to rope Daler to sing the title track of the Big Star Studded Film to be released around Diwali this year. The song is to be featured on the Biggest Bollywood Icon and the music is by the famous Music Director Trio - Shankar- Ehsaan - Loy, Lyrics are by Gulzar. Later as he went to the Stadium where India vs Pakistan Match was being played…..- the match came to a halt. Both the Teams were bewildered wondering why the crowd went into frenzy since there was no wicket down – it only took a minute to realise that the King of Bhangra had arrived and the crowd had shifted their attention to welcome the Badshah. The Stadia’s score board changed to showcase the Charismatic Star and The Show Stopper obliged, smiling and waving.”

On a recent tour to 'Devband', U.P. India - Daler Mehndi was welcomed in each city enroute Devband with garlands and slogans by fans - yelling " Punjab Ka Puttar Kaisa Ho- Daler Mehndi Jaisa Ho" (Like whom should be the Son- of the land of Punjab - should be like Daler Mehndi). Daler although amused by such frenzy was overwhelmed.

It was the affable Bhangra King who had extended the invitation and his clout had got me side the most dreaded iron campus in the country- Tihar Jail. Daler was there to brighten up the lives of inmates with a little song and dance and Bhangra contest.
Requests for Rang De reverberated. Daler, by now swinging with the mood, matched steps with the inmantes. Perfect. Unfettered. For a split second, humanity took over.The cops looked the other way as some of the inmates dashed towards the stage while others formed small gropus around it. Reason dawned all too soon. Loud instructions followed but the prisoners could not be controlled.
"Har aadmi ko pichhle karmon ka phal milta hai. Aap himmat mat haaro, maalik sab thik kar dega. (The past life's karma haunts us in this one too. But don't be disappointed, God will set everything right)," he said, genuine understanding in his voice.
This calmed the audience as each got lost in his own troubled world, fighting personal demons."
Just before stepping out, he looked back one last time."Wish these convicts too could come out of this walled world….", he whispered. Before I could comment, he looked at the inmates queing up to return to their cells, joined his hands inprayer, straightened his backand walked out of the iron gate. Maybe he prayed for a breath of freedom. Perhaps I heard him sing,"Thodi si khushboo baurayee si mast pawan ki…."

| KING'S NEW GEMS - THE HINDU, Chennai
Daler Mehndi is back in action with the title song of Rang De that continues to rule the charts. The man who once made Bhangra a household name across the country and changed track with Maqbool, seems to be getting selective these days.
The Pop Star says he was initially tense about the success of "Rang De Basanti." "Rakyesh Mehra and I were apprehensive about the box office results of the album. But we were overjoyed when the numbers topped all music charts."
D.M has recently sung for a Punjabi Film Ek Din Ek Jaan and a Hindi movie Kafila, which will be released later this year.

Tuteya Na Tuteya – Film: “Shaadi Se Pehle” - A singer who's literally evolved in the last few months is Daler Mehndi. After the superlative RANG DE BASANTI, Mehndi once again shines with Tootiya Ve. Here one must praise Reshammiya for his risk-taking ability for rather than giving a typical Bhangra-Pop number to the king, he asks him to sing a song that requires him to test his classical talent involving alaaps with a tinge of sufiyana and ghazal thrown in. The concoction of lounge rhythm with the taal of tabla creates a surreal environment in this sad number where the pangs of a broken heart are being described eloquently. D J Suketu shines in the remixed version by adding a smart beat and an extra dose of reverb to Daler's vocals.

Daler dressed in his signature style of black Kuta pyajama, yellow turban and an embellished long silver jackets, delivered some of his popular songs like Bolo Tara ra , Chui Mui, Tunak Tunak…..

One such historical moments was when the King of Pop performed at 6th International Sufi Musical Festival at Historical Arab ki Sarai, Humayun’s Tomb, at Nizamuddin, New Delhi on the 4th March'2006.
He regaled the audiences with some never heard before soulful classical compositions. One thing was evident about his performance that no matter what kind of audience, what language one spoke, Daler Mehndi knows for sure how to mesmerize his listeners.
