Earthquake/ Shelter to Individuals Following the earthquake that shook Gujarat in
January 2001.
Daler Mehndi donated 8 lakh rupees
which were contributed to the Prime
Minister’s Quake Relief Fund.
Daler adopted 16 families in the village
of Dudhiya near Anjar, at the Indraprastha
Colony which was named as the Guru
Gobind Singh Block providing them
with 16 Earthquake Resistant Houses
that were built in a record 100 days
complete with furnishings, crockery,
a month’s ration of food and
grains. 8 relief trucks complimented
this along with the proceedings produced
from a canvas he painted as part of
a school competition where he was
the chief guest, which brought in
Rs. 1,00,000.
